South Yarra Pool
INDUSTRIAL MODERN POOL DESIGN - BRINGING THE OUTSIDE IN
This roof top pool located in South Yarra presented many logistical and structural challenges. Access could only be gained via ladder and heavier materials had to be hoisted by crane.
Elevating the pool four metres above ground level enabled the construction of a basement gym and the installation of an acrylic window provided a stunning focal point from the living room and roof top terrace.
Due to the pools elevated position, opportunities for bracing the formwork in the traditional manner were limited. Drilling into the terrace concrete and driving in steel bars to securely anchor the walls was the optimal solution. The walls adjacent to the four-metre drop were then braced with cross beams which provided a structurally sound formwork.
